Pastor Renan was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a Christian home, and was very active in his church growing up. He earned his MD and worked as a family physician for four years and as a cardiologist for 12 years, while continuing to be active in ministry in various leadership roles at his local church. However, he sensed God’s call to full-time vocational ministry, and after much prayer and consideration, he and his family moved here to Canada to begin MDiv studies at McMaster Divinity College. Renan began at Good News Church as the Pastor of Portuguese Ministries in May 2022. He is married to Jackie, a psychologist, and they have two children, Daniel and Elisa. In his spare time, he loves to play piano, guitar, and have fun with his kids playing video games and basketball.
